30 therapy

Not sure if it's having the baby and adjusting to the role of being a mum or because I'm approaching the big three-oh, but I just feel an overwhelming need to sort my head out. To become more confident, get rid of all those hang-ups that've been around for 15yrs or more, to sort out all the shit in my head I suppose. I'm the last person to read self-help books, but started reading 'Feel The Fear...' yesterday and couldn't put it down, read about half of it in one night. Some of it is definitely not very me (the affirmations bit), but I'm giving it a go. It's just positive thinking really I suppose, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I've been thinking of reading that book for awhile, but someone told me it was a little outdated? I always put it off though. I don't know what type of person I'd be like without all my issues, isn't that terrible? I think it's quite brave of you to recognise what needs to change and then do something about it.

hmm not sure it's outdated but some of the things it suggests are a bit, well, 'naff' i suppose! i am trying some of them. Yeah it's easy to put these things off, but for some strange reason I feel compelled to tackle them!

You might want to try some Pema Chodron or Lama Surya Das, or even Charlotte Kasl. Then again, you might not. I like em anyway.

You know, I think a lot of it is the 30 thing. I've been in my thirties now for a couple of years, and I'm definitely more comfortable in my own skin than I ever was in my twenties.

Maybe it's a change of priorities with children and other people's opinions just don't matter as much, or maybe it's just age and maturity (HAHAHAHAHAHA) finally kicking in - either way, getting older has been fun :)

And just THINK how great the 40s are going to be!!!
