Black Dove: The Pushchair Years

After a long hiatus, I'm back, Back, BACK. The god of motherhood has granted me the time to update here often enough to be considered a blogger once again. Baby E is now 7 weeks old, time is flying. The days of the endless cycle of nappies, feeding and sleeping all blur into one. I'll be 40 before I know it (joke).

The Pushchair Walks: Part 1
As E is now going a bit longer in between feeds (3 hours, instead of 2), the crisp autumn days of long walks with the pushchair I dreamed of as a pregnant weeble are now here. Well, except for the fact that this autumn is positively tropical, something which I hate. Autumn's my favourite time of year, not least because my birthday is in October (next year it'll be the big Three Oh), and also because I love cold, sunny weather. But not wind and rain, dear reader, that I do hate.

Anyway, today I decided to take advantage of E's longer non-feeding time and explore the corners of north-west London. As I live in Queen's Park, I ventured up the hill of the street 'Brondesbury Park', which is a strange one. It's a long tree-lined avenue, filled with expensive detached houses. Nice, you might think. Wrong. On closer inspection, the street of apparently classy mansions is Naffsville Central. One house was actually called 'Garyland'. Ahem

From here, I headed for the heady delights of Willesden Green (home of Zadie Smith, no less). Past the exciting array of pawnshops and scruffy pubs, I made for Kensal Rise, and then back to Queens Park. not the most leafy of routes, granted, but plenty long, straight roads that are perfect for pushchairs.

Vital Statistics:
Number of London postcodes on the walk: 5 (!) - W9, NW6, NW2, NW10 and W10.
Baby time awake: 45mins
Number of pumpkin lanterns seen: 3
Seconds of baby crying time: less than 10. Result!
Total walk time: 1hr 30mins
Distance covered: 5 miles

Black Dove is back. Tell your friends.
