The American Boy

Just finished this book, a definite must-read. Set in 1819 in London, it is essentially a crime novel with tons of historical detail thrown in for good measure. The edition I got out of the library had an interview with the author at the end of the book, and the details about Edgar Allen Poe (the 'American boy' of the title) were fascinating, and demonstrated the length and detail of research that the author had gone to in writing the book (took about 8 years from the idea to the finished manuscript I think). Extremely enjoyable and something a little different from the average.
